Footed Teacups
In Japan these cups are called 'Yunomi' and are everyday drinking cups. They have a tall foot to hold while the body of the cup is too hot to grip. You can hold the cup by the rim and foot and then wait for your chosen drink to come to a drinkable temperature and then they are lovely clasp in your hands.
Two Footed Cups made from a dark, iron rich high fired stoneware clay.
Left: Thrown and vertically textured. Green, hardwood ash glaze, breaking to a brown where thinner. Approx 9.5cm
Right: part textured, Cornish Stone and Dolomite glaze with additional hardwood ash glaze. Only a sale item because of a couple of specks of kiln rubbish in the bottom of the cup, these have been buffed. Approx 8.5cm tall.
