Footed Teacups
In Japan these cups are called 'Yunomi' and are everyday drinking cups. They have a tall foot to hold while the body of the cup is too hot to grip. You can hold the cup by the rim and foot and then wait for your chosen drink to come to a drinkable temperature and then they are lovely clasp in your hands.
Left: Banded iron rich clay and a Shino type glaze. It also has a nice melted wood ash bowl on the inside.
Right: Stamped iron rich clay and Shino type glaze
Both approximately 8.5cm tall
Gas/wood fired to 1300°C in a reduction atmosphere.
